Baek Pa-Sun
Baek Pa-Sun (1560-1656) was a female, Korean ceramicist who was captured by Japanese soldiers during the invasions of Korea (1592-1598). Under Japanese reign, her pottery expertise was used to help found Arita Ware, Japan’s famous porcelain production.

By creating a modern persona for Baek Pa-Sun, I’ve analysed the traditional Korean dress, Hanbok, and applied the concepts and making techniques of Hanbok to contemporary garments.

A jogakbo is a Korean style of patchwork, traditionally used to create domestic wrapping cloths (known as bojagi) from scraps of left-over fabrics.
